In this article, I will teach you what sitemaps works and its significant from your Google Search Console to your website.

Sitemaps are files on Google Search Console that provide information about your website and any other pages on your website. Sitemaps helps search engines like Google to read files on your website and crawl your website effectively. Sitemaps always helps Google Search Engines like Google identifies more files and pages on your website and display it to your readers easily from your Google Search Console.

Sitemaps are good if your website is large and having large numbers of archive contents. It is good too if your website is having a lot of media (eg; images and videos).

Sitemap always look like this; your website URL slash your sitemap URL dot xml (eg; https://ogastygeebatechs.blogspot.com/sitemap.xml ). This is how it will look after submitting it;

After submitting your sitemap, your Google Search Console sitemap status should be in "Success" in green color.

If your status recorded "Couldn't fetch" that means you have entered a wrong sitemap to Google Search Console that you need to delete it. The correct sitemap URL that should be added to your website URL is "sitemap.xml".
